While I may be too young to remember the original Stretch Armstrong from the 80’s, I certainly have always been aware of his existence, and since purchasing a Vac man last year, my son has been wanting Mr Armstrong, so being the lovely parent I am (more like he wanted it and wouldn’t shut up) I purchased him for £21.99, which is actually a good price for what you get.

Stretch Armstrong Review: Design
The first thing both me and my son noticed about Stretch was his weight. He’s quite a heavy figure, but I guess that comes from having insides made of gelled corn syrup. The weight also gives me confidence in this toy’s durability. Durability is a very important factor of a toy that is made to stretch. He has certainly survived living with my child and still looks as good as new.
In terms of looks, he is still the same as his 80’s counterpart, with his blue painted on pants, a six-pack to die for and his plastic head. He stands at 30cm tall and can be stretched up to 4x this size. The one thing I’m a bit concerned about is how long the painted on pants will last though, as little A’s (my son) Stretch is starting to lose small areas of his pants. Not a big issue at all and it doesn’t have any effect on the fun on offer.
Stretch Armstrong Review: Let the stretching begin
Stretch is designed for rough play, it’s in his name, so of course, it’s actually a relief to see my son pushing a toy to its limits, with no negative consequences at all. Between him and his friends, Mr. Armstrong has been stretched, twisted and played with beyond the limits of any normal toy. I have bared witness to him being stretched, bent into all sorts of funny positions and dropped as my son and his friends all let go of him at the same time. Once you let go of him slowly reverts back to his unstretched self. He really does live up to his name.
I’ve even had a go with Stretch myself and I must admit he’s quite fun even for an adult like me. Of course, he’s for my son though, and he’s taken a real liking to this stretchable icon.

Whether you’re an adult looking to take a trip down memory lane or the parent of a child, Stretch Armstrong certainly is worth the money he costs. He’s well made and can certainly take a good hammering.
