Introduction:
Welcome to my Chengmei Toys Airport Playset review. This toy is a fun little playset that aims to give children a fun experience while giving them a small view of what goes on with vehicles in an airport.
Design:
The set consists of 31 pieces, which are as follows:
- A plane
- 4 different cars
- Several track pieces
- Road signs
- Fuel pumps
- Some trees
The track pieces all slot together to create a circuit that can be used to run the cars on. One of the cars has an interchangeable body and an electrical motor. The motor allows it to run along the track automatically, there’s no steering but the guard rails within the track make sure the car stays on track and turns at any turnings. The car is powered by a single AA battery (not included) which sits in a bay at the bottom of the chassis.
Putting the track together wasn’t actually hard to do, although some parts were awkward to slot together. Also, no instructions are included so you have to follow the image on the box. In terms of time, it took me about 5 minutes to have this all setup and going for my little boy.
The quality of this set isn’t the best and it could be better. It’s mostly constructed from plastic and that included the cars too. There’s no die-cast metal used at all, but given the price of the set, this is to be expected.
The funtertainment test:
Is this funtertaining ? Funtertaining being a cross between fun and entertaining. Well from the time I have had watching my son and occasionally playing with it with him I would have to say yes. He’s a bit young to put it together himself but once it was set up for the first time he was instantly playing with it and it was clear to see that he was enjoying himself. He was pushing cars along the track and then watching and giggling as the car with the motor made its way around the track on its own. Then he was setting up signs, which we ended up talking about what each one means, the signs are very educational but they do follow the American sign design so some may be unknown to anyone in Britain.
While he doesn’t head for this toy every day, my little boy has played with this now a few times and really does enjoy it, sometimes he can play with it for 10 minutes and sometimes an hour, it just depends what catches his attention.
Overall:
This is a fun playset that really does provide hours of fun for my little boy. The build quality isn’t that good and in all honesty, it could be better even at this cheap price.
