Welcome to my Marsboy Hands Free Dog Leash review. As the owner of a big dog I often find he is able to pull the lead right out of my hands on walks, not intentionally but if he’s being over excited. With this, I am able to put an end to that by using my waist instead.

Design and build quality:
This dog leash set comes with two main parts. A lead and a belt. Both of these feel really well made and I will go into each one in more detail below. Also included is a handy little pouch to keep dog poop bags in as well as other items such as keys or a phone. The poop bags can be pulled out using a rubber hole at the back of the pouch.
The dog lead part of this is really good. Instead of just being a normal looking dog lead, it’s actually been designed as a bungee lead that can extend up to 56”. This allows my dog to freely walk ahead of me or walk at the side of me. The lead has strong metal clips at each end and instead of freely opening and closing, these clips have a metal tube lock that slides up to lock and down to unlock. When this lock is in the locked position the clip stays tightly shut with no looseness or threat of accidentally opening and releasing you from the dog.
The belt is almost like your typical pants keeping up belt, however, it’s made from the same material you would find on a normal dog lead. It’s also adjustable to fit many sizes of waist from young adults upwards. This really shouldn’t be used by young children as the dog will most likely have more strength than them and could very well send them flying. The belt has a slide in plastic clip that clips into a really nice looking shiny silver-colored buckle. There are two lead connection points, so you have a dog lead connected to each one if you need to, although you do only get one lead in the set. Unfortunately, the belt can be very uncomfortable at times due to the material used, it also doesn’t help when my large dog is dragging me towards another dog or just sees a random squirrel running out in front of him.
Both the belt and the lead have reflective stitches running across them, to make sure the wearer is visible during dark evenings and mornings. The lead also has yellow sections (also available in grey) at each side that also act as reflective devices. I have tested these a few times and while they do work, I feel the stitching could be a bit better as it’s not as visible as I would have liked.
The build quality is actually really good. The belt and the lead are extremely well made and very strong. This is, of course, important as the last thing I or you need is the belt to break around our waists or the lead to snap.
In use:
As I have mentioned a few times, I have a large-sized dog. He’s also a pain for pulling when out on walks. This means I often end up with a sore hand or a dropped lead, with this, however, I have not had to suffer the hand pain of the mini heart attack when the lead drops on the floor. Since he is still a puller, though, I do sometimes hold the lead with one hand while it’s still connected to the belt obviously to ensure I can keep him from pulling. I like the extendable lead but it can be a nightmare if you have a naughty dog pulling you along.
The lead has also been designed with running in mind and I have tried to run with it. It’s really good, but for me I often find the dog pulling me even faster, so I think I will most likely just stick to walking with this around my waist.
Overall:
This is a decent dog lead with plenty of good features and a few unfortunate issues. I like the fact it’s extendable and love the build quality of it. The belt does become slightly uncomfortable though and the reflective stitching could be better.
