The Logitech M590 silent wireless mouse is as the title say a wireless mouse, but silent it isn’t. There is a slight noise from each click, but compared to the noise from my daily mouse, it’s not as noticeable, in fact, its kind of blissful to be honest. Marketing gimmicks aside, with a price of £24.98 currently on Amazon, is this little mouse something worth considering?

Being a compact mouse, the Logitech M590 isn’t too big with dimensions of 10.3 x 6.4 X 4 cm. Its small size makes it incredibly convenient when it comes to carrying it around in a laptop bag. For people with larger hands, the smaller size may be a bit of an issue, but for me, I’m quite comfortable with it.
Mostly constructed from plastic, the Logitech M590 isn’t too shabby to look at. Comfort wise it could be better with a bit more grip on top of the thin rubber coating the plastic as the I have found after long periods of use my hand starts to hurt a bit. It’s not something that puts me off the mouse but is a slight irritation.
If you like choice, when it comes to color, you’ll be happy to know the Logitech M590 is offered in a choice of three colors. Red, grey and black, of which I have the latter. The Black version is currently the cheapest on Amazon at £24.98, while the grey is the second cheapest at £26.99 and the most expensive coming in with a price tag of £35.74 is the Red version.
Powering the Logitech M590 is a single AA battery. Logitech claims the mouse can last up to 2 years on a single battery. I’ve not had the mouse for 2 years to verify this completely, but so far in the month or so I’ve had the mouse, I haven’t once had to change the battery.
The Logitech M590 is equipped with six buttons for most general computing needs. There’s the left/right clicker buttons, a set of back and forth buttons (which can be user programmed), a scroll wheel and lastly a button that switches between RF and Bluetooth mode, more on that in a moment. Also, present on the mouse are two LED lights, these are also related to the RF/Bluetooth options.
As I mentioned above, the Logitech M590 features both Bluetooth and RF connections. The RF connection is taken care of using the included micro dongle receiver. Bluetooth can be paired with a Bluetooth or your device’s built-in Bluetooth. A sub-feature of these two connection options is the ability to have the mouse connected to two devices at once with on-demand switching taken care of by the button I mentioned earlier. Simply have one device connected using the RF receiver and the other device connected by Bluetooth and you’re good to go. A set of two LED lights is in place to remind you of which device you are currently connected to. If both your device’s support Bluetooth, then both can be connected via Bluetooth instead of using the RF receiver.
I’ve found myself using the Logitech M950 with both my PC via Bluetooth and my LG TV using the wireless receiver. In both instances, it performs without any issues. It’s responsive and fluent in both types of software across a variety of different uses from general browsing on the computer to navigating my TV’s OS with ease.
The Logitech M590 is overall a fantastic little mouse that offers so much in a tiny package. The battery life claim is stunning and while I haven’t been able to prove it yet, it has so far lasted a lot longer than other wireless mouses I have used on a single battery. Having two devices connected at once for seamless switching is another brilliant feature, that’s perfect for people who may find themselves working across two PCs at once. For these reasons alone I have to recommend the Logitech M590 for anyone who’s needing a small wireless mouse that’s laptop bag friendly and won’t break the bank.
