Floureon 10000mAh solar power bank review: Design
The design of this solar power bank is what sets it aside from others I have used. Other solar power banks I have used have always been large and had a cover made mainly from soft materials like cloth. This one is much different. First of all, it’s a lot smaller, with a bag friendly size and it may even fit in a large jacket pocket. Then’s there are the materials, which consist of faux leather for three of panels and a plastic shell protecting the battery and housing the fourth of the panels. On the back of the plastic housing is another bit of faux leather, but you can still tell it’s plastic underneath.
On the back side of the plastic battery casing, is a light that consists of 9 LED bulbs. Next to the light is a button that turns it on and off, as well as switching it between the three modes, which by the way are static, flashing and fast flashing.
Down one side of the plastic housing is a set of six small lights that are used to keep you informed of the current battery level within the power bank itself. Along the top side is a flap that opens to reveal two normal USB ports for connecting your devices and a MicroUSB port for charging the built-in battery of the powerbank.
The three panels covered mostly by Faux leather fold into one another, before sitting in a neat pile on top of the plastic battery housing. There is a little button clip to ensure they stay safely closed when not needed.
As part of the set, you also get a small carabiner snap hook to allow you to hook the power bank to something like a rucksack and a compass as well to ensure you can always find your way, when out in the wilderness.
Floureon 10000mAh solar power bank review: Charging up and charging devices
As we are way past the summer months, it’s safe to assume I haven’t had much outdoor charging time with this, however, with the little sun we have experienced, I have been able to see just how the charger reacts to the sun. The reaction is pretty good, get the panels open and they instantly detect the rays beaming down on them, which in turn starts the panels supplying power to the internal battery. You can tell this is happening because the status lights I mentioned earlier start to light up. Now, in all honesty, we just haven’t had the weather for me to able to leave this sitting out all day long in the sun to see how long it takes, but I can say from previous experiences with similar products, you are looking at around 20 hours or so for a 100% charge from 0% and that’s on really good days, on days with poor sun, it’s going to be much longer. Thankfully, though, it’s much quicker to plug it into a USB port on a PC and leave it to charge that way. When I say much quicker it’s about 6 to 8 hours which isn’t too bad for a 10000mAh battery.
So now you know how long it takes to charge its own battery, but what about a connected device’s battery. Of course, it depends on your phone as much as it does the power bank as each phone model has its own type of battery and capacity. My phone has a capacity of 3120mAh, which allows it to get 3 and a bit full charges from this charger. The charging time for my phone from a fully flat battery to a full one using this power bank is around the 3-hour mark. This is a pretty decent time, considering it’s only about 30 minutes longer than plugging it into a wall socket.

The Floureon 10000mAh solar power bank is a fairly decent device with no real issues at all. The only letdown is one that concerns most solar power banks and that is, of course, the charging time when using the sun. Other than that it’s a well-made product that works really well. It charges my phone up in a good enough amount of time and fairly easy to carry around.
