Forfar XXX Foldable Picnic Blanket Review: It’s So Big It Takes Up Most Of My Kitchen Floor

Introduction:

Welcome to my Forfar XXX Foldable Picnic Blanket review. This is the second large picnic blanket I own and when I say large I mean 200X200 large, so picture that in your head. It’s also packing some other nifty features you’ll find out about in this review.

Design and build quality:

As well as the size this blanket is packing another feature I really like and that is the aluminized film backing, that provides a source of heat insulation as well as waterproofing to prevent saturation to the upper layer of the blanket when it’s down on a flat surface. This backing takes up the entire underside of the blanket and has proven really effective at doing its job. I have tested it on wet grass in my garden and while the bottom of the blanket got wet, the top remained dry.

Another really handy feature is that the blanket is designed to be folded up into an easy carry bag like design, meaning once it’s folded you can carry it using a handle that is secured down using hook and loop fasteners. Admittedly remembering how to fold it back up can be a pain and slightly time-consuming.

The pattern and color scheme on this blanket is neutral with a series of different colored flowers sitting on a green soft flannel material. Due to the range of colors and pattern design, this really is something perfect for both males and females.

Underneath the soft flannel material is a layer of 2mm thick foam padding. Now unfortunately even with this three layer system in place, the blanket still looks and feels thin, even my other large blanket has thicker material than this and it’s basically the same thing.

The build quality is fantastic, the blanket feels really well made. There’re no stitches out-of-place and the hook and loop fasteners work as expected. once folded the blanket remains strong, even when done many times.

In use:

Due to the lovely Autumn weather we are having now, the only place me and my family have been with this picnic blanket is our back garden, but even there it wasn’t a bad picnic at all. There’s enough room for the three of us and even a few more as well as the picnic food and drinks. The fact the wet grass wasn’t having an effect on us at all was, of course, a huge bonus.

Overall:

This is a fantastic picnic blanket, that’s perfect for family picnics out. It has a nice large size and is well made. It does have a few issues though, but nothing too major.
