Introduction:
Welcome to my Cookey XXX Large Picnic Blanket review. While the season for picnics is drawing to an end, it’s still good to have a picnic blanket for those summer days and maybe even some of those rarer warm autumn days.
Design and build quality:
Being XXX large, this is no tiny two people blanket, in fact, it’s as big a double bed. That means it can easily fit an average sized family on it along with the picnic itself. Something else I really like about it is that while it maintains that lovely soft fleece feel that is traditionally present on picnic blankets, it also has a waterproof aluminium sheeted base that allows you to put it down on wet grass without the fear of water soaking through.
The blanket can also be folded up and sealed closed with hook and loop fasteners (that’s the right name for velcro). Once closed it looks quite similar to a handbag. Of course, it’s not a bag though and the folding shut process is a great way of ensuring transportation of the blanket is as easy as possible.
The blanket is available in two colour schemes. There’s the red and blue stripe blanket and the blue and white checkered blanket. I have the blue and red checked blanket. Running around the edge of the blanket is a black hem to ensure the blanket stays in one piece.
The blanket looks and feels really well made. There no loose threads, the fabric looks well done and the hem around the trims is doing a good job of keeping the blanket as it should be.
In use:
Luckily I was able to use this blanket while we still had some warm weather. There were only three of us, but it was easy to see we could easily fit three more people on the blanket if we needed too. The blanket is extremely comfortable and looks really nice. The waterproof backing kept the top layer of the blanket dry from the wet grass the blanket was placed on.
Overall:
This is a fantastic picnic blanket that I just can;t seem to fault at all. It looks good, feels good and is well made. The waterproof backing is brilliant and really is the icing on the already sweet cake.
