Introduction:
Welcome to my Aviva Yoga 5mm Non Slip Yoga Mat review. I have recently got into doing Yoga after my partner said she felt really benefitted from it. A Yoga mat is obviously an important part of Yoga and to get the full benefits you need a good one that’s comfortable. So is this one up to scratch?
Design and quality:
This mat is made from a textured TPE foam. It has two layers of the foam and is reversible so if you need to switch sides for whatever reason, you can. Embossed down the middle of the mat is a centralised line to help you properly align your body to get the most from different poses. I have found this line to be great, particularly as I am only a beginner and still struggle sometimes with aligning my body. Also embossed into the mat is Aviva Yoga’s brand emblem.
The mat is available in three colour schemes which are orange and blue, pink and purple and lastly the one I have which is green and black. Since there are two sides to the mat, one side takes on color and the other side takes the other, so basically one side is green and one side is black.
The mat is 5mm thick and is 183cm long and 61cm wide. At 183cm long, this really is one long Yoga mat. I have seen many smaller Yoga mats but never one this big, in fact rolling it out reminds me of how you see red carpets been rolled out for award ceremonies. The width is standard and is typical of the width I have seen even on smaller mats, such as my partner’s, which she no longer likes after seeing and trying this one.
The build quality is fantastic. The mat is well made and the two sides are well stuck together, with no peeling areas even after quite a bit of use. The mat is also water resistant and has great grip meaning it can be used on wet surfaces. It’s also advertised as being bacteria and fungal growth resistant.
In use:
This is one of the best mats I have ever had the pleasure of using. It’s so comfortable, has a brilliant grip that allows me to use it outside even if the ground surface is wet and slippery. I also love that I can use both sides of it. The thing I love the most though is that embossed line down the middle that has really helped me a lot with my body centralising.
My partner also loves the mat. She loves it so much she keeps telling me to swap with her, but I simply can’t bring myself to do that. Although I’m not mean so I do let her use it when she doing Yoga on her own.
Overall:
This is a fantastic and faultless Yoga mat. It’s well made, very comfortable and quite big. It’s the best mat I have ever had the pleasure of using. It’s so good my partner wants it.
