Introduction:
Welcome to my Oasap Men Classic Solid Lace Up Sneakers review. In life, there are tons of essentials and one of them is something for your feet, such as sneakers. This is a pair of cheap (£9.99 at the time of this review) sneakers that have a similar look to a more well-known brand you will have seen on people’s feet or in hight street shops.
Design and build quality:
These shoes have a canvas material and a low look style. They are available in a few different colors and sizes. I have the black ones and got them in size 8 as I am a size 7 and the listing states that since these are Asian sizes, as an English buyer you should pick one size up. I followed the rule to a T and the shoes do fit, but there isn’t really much room which causes my little toes to get squashed against the sides.
On the tongue of the shoes and along the outer sides of the sole is a Union Jack flag with the name ‘Juhang’ inside it, Juhang is technically the brand of the shoe despite the title listing saying ‘Oasap’. Anyway, I’m not entirely sure why the Union Jack is included on these sneakers. Are the manufacturers trying to look British or do they just think we like to wear shoes with our flag on? Either way, this just seem a bit cheesy.
I have seen a few reviewers who claim their shoes didn’t come with laces, now I don’t know if this was a one-off mistake or something to do with the color selected, luckily my black ones did come with laces., although they are only part way threaded through the shoes.
The sole of the shoes is actually quite thick and does seem to be holding up well. I haven’t yet had the chance to test them for gripping purposes but I suspect they probably do a good enough job on slightly slippery surfaces.
The build quality is good in some areas such as the canvass material used and the thick soles but in other places such as glued areas you can see where the glue has leaked out during the gluing process, which looks rough and tatty. Also when glue is this cheaply done it tends not to last very long, so I won’t be surprised if these don’t last too long.
Comfort:
As I mentioned earlier these do fit me, but with barely any room for my toes, which means my little ones end up getting squashed by the side of the shoe. I have tried wearing them a few times to ‘break them in’ but have had no real success and my little toes still seem to be getting squashed. The rest of the space is fine and I have had no discomfort in my heel or ankle, it just seems to be the front of the shoes where it starts to get narrower. I think I would have been better off going two sizes up and getting a 9 instead.
Overall:
I do like these shoes they look and with a few areas of exception they do feel well made. The comfort is an issue for me though and I feel this is due to the Asian sizes being sold, instead of sticking to a method that means each country has their own size of shoes made properly.
