The Magiclux Tech D9 portable karaoke microphone certainly doesn’t look like any ordinary handheld microphone and that’s because at the bottom of it is a 5w driver that enables you to also use this as a Bluetooth speaker as well as a speaker for voice output. With this design, the top end of the device is like a typical handheld microphone, but at the bottom, the round base expands and comes out a lot thicker than the top.
The microphone area is constructed from metal, whereas the speaker area at the bottom is constructed from plastic and has a glossy finish to it. This two tones/material design looks quite cool and emphasizes the fact that this device has two sections.
Located on the microphone part are three switches, one turns the Magiclux Tech D9 portable karaoke microphone on and off, one adjusts the volume and the other adjust the ECH. It is recommended that while using this as Bluetooth speaker both of the adjustment switches should be in their lowest positions to avoid any audio pickup from the music playing.
At the top of the speaker area is a microUSB port for charging the built-in battery, which in this case is a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. I can’t find any mention of the capacity in mAh but the listing does say the speaker can last between 5-6 hours from a 2-hour charge. From my time so far with this device, I have found this claim to be accurate enough to be no cause for concern. Given the nature of this device, the battery is also good enough and about average.

I’ll start off talking about the audio quality of the Magiclux Tech D9 Portable Karaoke Microphone. I must admit I am rather impressed by just how good the 5-watt mono speaker really is at outputting audio. It’s clear and really packs a punch in the bass department, it can sometimes sound a bit deep, particularly if the microphone is stood up, which of course means the speaker is head on with the surface below it, so positioning is vital if you want the best sound possible from this thing.
Of course, this device is more about the microphone, than the speaker, so it’s no surprise the microphone works really well and is fun to use as the voice is outputted through the speaker anyway. It produces a clear microphone representation of my voice and can be set loud enough to be heard from the upstairs of my house.
Overall
The Magiclux Tech D9 Portable Karaoke Microphone is a fantastic bit of kit that looks gorgeous and works really well. Even with just one speaker, the sound is great and of course, the microphone also works really well too. This is definitely something I would recommend.
