The Edifier S2000 Pro bookshelf speaker set is one of many entries into Edifier’s ever-growing library of audio equipment. In terms of technology used, the Edifier S2000 Pro bookshelf speaker set is quite technologically advanced and this reflects in the price. Edifier has given this speaker set an RRP of £429.99, which isn’t bad when you the specifications, which I have pasted below directly from the differ website.

Edifier has some gorgeous looking speakers, but the S2000 Pro tops them all in terms of looks and style. The speakers have a slanted appearance and make use of 18mm thick wooden panels on each side that as well as making the speakers look good, also has a positive effect on the overall sound quality.
Black colored wood takes claim to the midsection of the speaker, while the side panels are a light brown color. This color mix ensures the look isn’t bland. The set looks great on my front room sideboard.
As you’d expect both speakers are similar in looks for the most part, however, there are obviously some differences between the primary (right) and the secondary (left). The primary speaker is home to all the connections, control panel, status indicator and IR receiver for the remote. The secondary speaker is home to the input connection from the right speaker.
The control panel, which is on the rear of the primary speaker is home to control dials and connection points. The dials located here from top to bottom are for volume/input selection, treble adjustment and bass adjustment. As is usual with Edifier speakers the volume/input selection dial rotates left and right to adjust the volume and is pushed in to select the required input mode. There are several connection options available on this control panel, including AUX in, balanced XLR input, optical in and coaxial in. Also present is the main power switch, a plug and the secondary speaker connection point. As well as the wired connections, the Edifier S2000 Pro speaker set also features Bluetooth connectivity.
Also present on the primary speaker is a status panel display. This is located below the drivers and contains several preset lights that light up to show a Bluetooth logo for the Bluetooth input or the word COX for the Coaxial input etc.
Both speakers feature a removable mesh covered grille. I sometimes find that speakers with removable grilles always look better with the grille covers in place, but the Edifier S2000 Pro bookshelf speaker set is an exception to this. The speakers look great with or without the covers on.
Despite being bookshelf speakers, the Edifier S2000 Pro bookshelf speaker set is large in comparison to other bookshelf speakers by Edifier. Each speaker in this set, has the following dimensions 8-inch x 13.5-inch x 10.5-inch (W x H x D). In comparison, the Edifier R1700BT bookshelf speakers have the following dimensions 6-inch x 9.75-inch x 8-inch (W x H x D). Since the S2000 Pro set is significantly bigger than standard bookshelf speakers, you may need to measure up if you’re thinking of buying a set for your PC desk.
Connecting the primary speaker to the secondary speaker is achieved using Edifier’s unique five-pin cable. The cable is included in the box and has a rather generous 5m of distance to play with, meaning it’s easy to set the speakers apart at a decent distance.
When it comes to Edifier remotes, the end results are usually mixed. You either get a good remote or remote that works at least. The remote that comes included with the S2000 Pro certainly falls into the it works category. Every other remote I have come across with Edifier speakers has been small and pocket-friendly, this one, however, is large and definitely not a friend of pockets. In all honesty, its size isn’t justifiable as it has very few buttons. The remote is also quite pointy and sharp in the corner areas. That said, this large size does mean losing it, will be much harder.
With Planar diaphragm tweeters and 5.5-inch midrange/bass tweeters, it’s no surprise that the Edifier S2000 Pro bookshelf speaker set sounds incredible. Sound fills the room and is as clear as day with no distortion at higher volumes. Thanks to an impressive mid-range the vocals never got lost or drowned out by other aspects of the audio. Bass is also very well presented with the S2000 Pro and by this I mean you can really feel it, but at the same time, it doesn’t provide any negative effect on the overall audio quality.
The overall audio remains impressive no matter what genre of music is playing. I have a varied library of songs from different times and different genres, yet I never feel a song could sound better elsewhere.
If you enjoy having a bit more control over your overall audio experience, you’ll be happy to know the Edifier S2000 Pro bookshelf speaker set offers four preset sound modes to give you some flexibility. Switching between the four modes is done using the dedicated buttons on the remote. These modes are:

In conclusion, the Edifier S2000 Pro bookshelf speaker set is a fantastic set of speakers. Their design is gorgeous, while the audio quality is mind-blowingly wonderful. With a variety of different connectivity options and Bluetooth, the S2000 Pro offers something for everyone. The remote could be a lot better and in my opinion, should be a lot smaller.
