Dazhong Portable Wireless Microphone design and battery
The Dazhong portable wireless microphone looks pretty much like any wireless microphone you see, with the exception of the large speaker box that sits between the microphone head and the handle. The thing that really impresses me is that it looks so premium, the color and the materials used are fantastic. It’s made from metal and has a rose gold-colored handle with a gold-colored head and gold-colored trimmings. The speaker box is white and has a pattern on the back and top sides. All of this combined makes for one sleek-looking device that you would think you had paid more for.
There are several buttons and switches on the microphone and most of these live on the front face of the speaker box. There are also four on the top, just below the microphone head. On the bottom of the speaker box is a microUSB port for charging the device and connecting the included microUSB to 3.5mm audio jack to use it without Bluetooth. This port can also be used as a charging port for mobile devices in emergencies.
On the very bottom of the microphone handle is a USB port that can be used to connect a USB device, which can be used as a music source to be played through the speaker.
Despite all of the features above the microphone doesn’t feel too heavy at all, it feels like it’s between light and heavy so for me, this makes it just right. It’s comfortable to hold in the hand.
I do have one complaint about the design, but I’m not sure if it’s just limited to my microphone. For some reason, it has a distinct smell of ash to it, which I just can’t seem to get rid of at all.
Powering the Dazhong portable wireless microphone is a 2600mAh rechargeable lithium battery. The working time is 5 to 8 hours according to the product information. I have tested this claim and found it to be accurate. With the microphone/speaker settings set to their highest, I get results of about 5 and a half hours, while with everything at its lowest I get about 7 to 8 hours from a single charge.
Dazhong Portable Wireless Microphone setup and signal reliability
As with any other Bluetooth device, the setup of this microphone is quick and easy. I had it done within 30 seconds with no issues at all. The included manual is basic enough to give you a good idea of what you need to do, although it could still be a bit more informative.
The promised 10m working range has been achieved and I am able to use this without any interruptions. The signal is reliable and only drops once the two devices are out of the working distance.
If you don’t use Bluetooth, then you’ll be happy to know you can still use this with any device that has a 3.5mm audio jack built-in. It comes with a microUSB cable that connects to the microphone and has a 3.5mm jack on the opposite end for connecting to a 3.5mm audio jack.
Dazhong Portable Wireless Microphone audio and microphone quality
The audio produced by this is pretty decent, although I have heard much better in all honesty. It’s clear enough at low volumes but can become slightly distorted at higher volumes. That said, for what it is it’s good enough for small time usage. It does pack some bass as well, which is pretty good for its size. The quality of the audio is the same no matter what sources you use, I have found. SO basically if you are connected via cable it’s just as good as Bluetooth or using a USB host.
Talking or singing through the microphone is also a lot of fun, but again it’s not as good as say a proper microphone, but it’s good enough for its purpose, which is, of course, having fun with your friends and family.
Overall
The Dazhong portable wireless microphone is a fantastic and very fun bit of kit. It has a premium looking design to it and while the audio and microphone quality could be better, they are each good enough for the main purpose of the microphone.
